Uganda’s political landscape has undergone significant changes in recent years, particularly with the advent of social media. As the country gears up for the 2026 elections, social media is playing a crucial role in shaping public opinion, mobilizing voters, and influencing the overall electoral process.

The Rise of Social Media in Uganda

With a rapidly growing internet penetration rate, social media platforms such as Facebook, X (Twitter), and WhatsApp have become integral to communication in Uganda.

According to recent statistics, over 10 million Ugandans are active on social media, which represents a substantial portion of the electorate. This demographic shift has transformed how political messages are disseminated and consumed.

Accessibility and Engagement

Social media offers a platform where political candidates can communicate directly with voters, bypassing traditional media channels that might filter or manipulate their messages.
