Five students were successfully nominated to contest for Kyambogo university Guild president. Those to battle it out in the race are Doreen Ashaba of the NRM, FDC’s Anthony Ayinza. Both Owen Matte and Nicholas Bukenya are not leaning against any party.
Many students hopes were however turned down after their preferred candidate, Assumpta Nalubega, whom students claim would be the Anna Adeke (The newly elected Guild president of MUK)Â of Kyambogo failed to make it through the nomination process for failing to meet the minimum requirements for a guild presidential candidate.
Assumpta did not have the sh200,000 mandatory fee for nomination and she also arrived late for the process thus her disqualification from the race.
The campaigns are in high gear at the campus after all the candidates launched their manifestos at the university’s sports ground on Tuesday.
The electoral commission led by Martin Yiga said voting will be conducted on the 25th of March. Martin has promised a free and fair election and requested student to faithfully respect the out come.
