NCHE Appoints Makerere Don as Director of Quality Assurance

NCHE (The National Council for Higher Education) has appointed Makerere University’s Dr. Vincent Ssembatya as the Director for Quality Assurance.

Dr. Ssembatya’s appointment was confirmed by his ecstatic boss; Vice Chancellor Prof Barnabas Nawangwe in a tweet.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe tweeted to confirm Dr. Ssembatya’s appointment.

“I congratulate Mak Don Dr. Vincent Ssembatya on being appointed the Director for Quality Assurance at the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE). I am confident that he will enhance digital experiences in that position. Congratulations!,”

the VC shared.

The appointee has been heading the Quality Assurance Directorate at Makerere University in the same capacity.

He earned a degree from the University of Florida in December 2001 with a PhD in mathematics. Both his undergraduate and graduate degrees in science are from Makerere University.

Furthermore, Dr. Ssembatya held the positions of Acting Head of the Department of Science during the year 2003 and Dean of the Faculty of Science at Makerere University from 2005 to 2009.

He has served on a number of senate and council committees, as well as the Senate of Makerere University (Examinations, Staff Development, Mature Age, Budgeting & Projects sub-committees).

NCHE

As Dean, he oversaw several Carnegie Corporation of New York-funded flagship programs for quality assurance. He created the resource allocation model as part of the team that authored the new university strategic plan.
