Traguil will succeed Jackson Mayanja, a former Cranes player who has been the manager of KCCA FC since April. Mayanja, who had been appointed as an interim coach to boost the team’s performance, was unable to make major gains and ultimately lost the league title to Vipers on the final matchday.

KCCA FC, which had been without a league title for three years, made significant hires at the start of the previous season in the hopes of restoring their former glory. The team initially showed promise, even holding a six-point lead at the top of the table. However, their fortunes changed when SC Villa surpassed them, as seen by three consecutive draws against the Maroons, UPDF, and Blacks Power.

These results constituted a huge danger to their championship hopes, prompting coach Morley Byekwaso to retire. Despite Mayanja’s arrival at the latter end of the season, KCCA FC struggled to progress and narrowly missed out on the league title, ending level on 53 points but losing on goal difference.
