Victoria University has given out free laptops to all their students.

Over 30 newly registered students receive brand new laptops handed over  by the university’s Chancellor, Dr. Martin Aliker.

“This is a unique opportunity as we want to move ahead of  times in helping students become computer literate because this is where the world is moving and we don’t want them to be left behind,”Aliker noted.

The University Vice Chancellor Dr. Stephen Isabalijja stressed that the laptops would help students compete favorably with others in terms of knowledge adding that this would help them explore their talents.

“This is the only way the beneficiaries will be at the same level with their counterparts in other parts of the ICT world which is moving at a very high speed.

We hope they will be able to design their own websites and do many other things using the gadgets and this will be beneficial to them,”Isabalijja added.

Moses Musinguzi applauded the university for what he termed as a fundamental for knowledge these which he said would be beneficial to him in his studies.

“There will be no more delays in doing course works, research and above all we shall use the new gadgets to explore the internet and keep up to date with the folding events in the world and keep our minds fresh,”Musinguzi retorted.

According to officials from the university, all students are entitled to brand new laptops at the beginning of the semester and this is intended to bolster ICT and computer literacy among them.
