AC Milan stepped up their efforts towards signing Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas according to Milan sporting director.
AC Milan sporting director Leonardo told Sky Sports Italia that a move for the Spaniard would be ideal. Fabregas has fallen out of Sarri’s plans making him a substitute always.
However it’s said that Sarri wants the club to and him a new contract since his contract expires in the summer.
‘We evaluated it, considering the possibility, but didn’t go all in, Leonardo told Sky Sport Italia about signing Fabregas.
We are still evaluating the conditions.’ One issue is Milan’s financial situation after the club was punished by UEFA in June for breaking Financial Fair Play rules.
Leonardo added that signing new players are still an issue due to fear of economic sanctions by Financial Fair Play issue.
‘There could be an economic sanction, we’ll see what happens, he said.
‘We do have a very negative balance sheet. We’ll certainly do something on the market, but we’ll take it slowly. ‘Unfortunately, with the Financial Fair Play issue it has become a puzzle and a difficult one to work out, the director added.
We need to wait and understand what we can actually do. ‘The owners want to invest, but there are parameters to be respected.’
