Job Summary:  We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Advisor to join our team. As a Business Advisor, you will play a critical role in providing support to our portfolio companies and investment initiatives. Your expertise in investment principles, financial analysis, and strategic planning will be a success factor. This position requires a strong background in investment management, business acumen, excellent communication skills, and the ability to analyze financial data effectively. You will collaborate with various stakeholders and contribute to the overall development of our investment strategies and portfolio companies. Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Document Refinement: Collaborate with portfolio companies to refine strategic documents, such as business plans, financials forecast, profiles, and other relevant materials, ensuring they meet the required quality standards.
  • Business Advisory: Conduct tailored one-on-one training sessions for companies participating in our activities, either in-person or online, both within/outside Kampala and beyond boarders. This includes provision of both pre and post-investment advisory to enhance their growth and development.
  • Training Material Development: Contribute to the development of high-quality training materials that will guide companies throughout their growth journey. Generate written or video content to be delivered online, shared through social media, the company website, or other platforms, aimed at providing valuable insights and information to our target audience.
  • Company Sourcing and Assessment: Identify and source companies that meet the criteria for our training programs and investment opportunities, ensuring alignment with our program objectives
  • Fundraising: Work closely with the investment team to support the closing of investment deals, including document analysis, refinement, and sharing relevant information with potential investors upon request.
  • Assist in program implementation, including contributing to proposal development and project execution.
  • Reporting and Deliverables: Prepare and submit high-quality reports and deliverables within specified timelines, ensuring accuracy and adherence to organizational standards.
  • Business Development Opportunities: Identify potential business development opportunities, contributing ideas and insights to facilitate the expansion and growth of our programs and services.
  • Other Duties: Perform any other responsibilities assigned by the line manager to contribute to the overall success of the organization and its mission.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, economics, or a related field is typically required. A master’s degree in a relevant discipline is an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis and modelling is crucial.
  • Experience or knowledge in analyzing investment opportunities, conducting due diligence, and managing investment portfolios is highly desirable.
  • A strong understanding of business fundamentals, including strategic planning, market analysis, risk assessment, and business development
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and ability to present complex financial concepts in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with investors, entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders is important.
  • A commitment to maintaining high ethical standards and adhering to regulatory guidelines.
