Jacob Kiplimo Wins March USPA Award, Completes Back-to-Back Honours

Jacob Kiplimo Uganda’s long-distance athlete has once again returned to the podium of the Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA).

Jacob Kiplimo, 22, was named the most outstanding sports personality for the month of March 2023 by the unifying body of USPA.

This was at the monthly assembly held at Imperial Royale Hotel, Kampala on Monday, April 3, chaired by president Moses Alsayed Lubega.

Kiplimo also received the Nile Special/USPA award in February for his gold medal at the 2023 World Cross Country Championship in Bathurst, Australia.

Kiplimo was victorious during the 2023 United Airlines New York City Half Marathon in the USA on Sunday, 19th March with a time of 1:01:31.

During the same race, Uganda completed a 1-2 finish when Joshua Cheptegei claimed silver.

In February, Kiplimo also won the Nile Special/USPA award for the gold medal won at the 2023 World Cross Country Championship in Bathurst city, Australia.

In Bathurst, Cheptegei finished third to take bronze.

Kiplimo amassed a total of 320 votes ahead of the Rally Crew of Yasin Nasser and Ali Katumba.

Nasser and Katumba finished second during the 2023 Equator Rally in Voi, Kenya.
