Job Title: Accountant
NFT Consult, a leading HR Consultancy firm, seeks to recruit for it valuable client, The East African Association of the Anti-Corruption Authorities (EAAACA) is a leader in the fight against corruption within the East African region.
NFT Human Resource Solutions are customer tailored per industry requirements and are geared towards increased cost savings, process improvement leading to improved efficiency and effectiveness yet simultaneously strengthening quality and control of resources.
Job Summary:
  • The Accountant is required to establish a functional and credible financial management system that will ensure appropriate financial control over program activities;
  • Offer expert advice on financial matters relating to project accounting analysis and financial reporting;
  • Compile budget estimates;
  • Verifying and preparing payments including salaries; controlling financial records;
  • Reconciling, posting and maintaining books of Account.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Establish a functional and credible financial management system of the Association;
  • Develop operational financial procedures for reviewing, recording, monitoring and reporting on project amounts disbursed and incurred by the Association and collaborating partners, if any, and incorporate them in the Finance manual;
  • Maintain a cash book for all cash and bank balances held and prepare bank reconciliations for review by the General Secretary on monthly basis;
  • Prepare annual activity based budgets, monthly and quarterly management and donor financial reports, and budget variance analyses for review by the Executive Committee;
  • Using accounting software, track budget and actual expenditure and generate financial reports monthly and quarterly, on the basis of a suitable chart of accounts;
  • Establish controls over cash e.g. petty cash counts, authorization over disbursement of cash;
  • Develop accounting and physical controls to safeguard the Association’s fixed assets management policies and establishment of physical asset and inventory verification accounts;
  • Develop modalities of managing and allocating common administrative costs to specific program activities;
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant should possess an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or Business Administration (Accounting option);
  • Possession of a Master’s degree in the relevant field from a recognized university;
  • Membership to Professional bodies e.g. ICPAU, ACCA, CPA or similar recognized professional body;
  • Previous work with anti-corruption programmes will be an added advantage;
  • The applicants should possess at least eight (8) years’ relevant working experience with a reputable organization.
  • Possess a high degree of integrity;
  • Computer literacy skills i.e. working knowledge of computerized accounting packages;
  • Extensive knowledge in donor reporting;
  • Knowledge in budgeting principles and procedures;
  • Possess the ability to analyze accounting processes and identify practices and procedures that require correction or modification;
  • Possess the ability to formulate and implement recommendations for improvements of accounting systems.
