JOB DETAILS: 
In 1995, Epicentre created a permanent research center in Uganda to support MSF projects in the region. The primary role of Epicentre in Mbarara is to conduct clinical research following
Good Clinical Practice (GCP) requirements on critical public health burdens in Uganda and Africa. To reach this objective,
Epicentre collaborates closely with the Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST). A full-time experienced research team is based at the Epicentre Mbarara Research Center.
Laboratory Technician (1 Position)
Location: Mbarara Epicentre Mbarara Research Centre in
(EMRC), Uganda
Reports to (Hierarchical): laboratory Manager
Reports to (Functional): laboratory Manager
Duration: 6 months Renewable
Start date: 12th August 2019 .

General responsibilities (not exhaustive)
• Perform analyses and report results of laboratory procedures performed in the laboratory, according to GClP standards.
• Participate in all laboratory activities: hematology, clinical chemistry, smear microscopy, culture, drug susceptibility testing, and media preparation, others as applicable
• Ensure that the procedures are performed following standard operating procedures (SOP)
• Participate in the implementation of quality assurance procedures
• Participate in follow up of the internal and external quality control
• Participate in the regular maintenance of laboratory equipment both internally (daily or weekly procedures) or externally (annual maintenance).
• Participate in the biosafety aspects of the laboratory

Requirements:
• Education: Diploma in Medical laboratory Techniques
• Experience :Experience in laboratory procedures (Haematology, Clinical chemistry, microscopy, Culture)
• Other relevant: Valid annual practicing license from Allied Health Professionals’ council
• Knowledge: Experience/knowledge of GClP and lab safety requirement
• Competencies: Ability to communicate
