LDC Issues Guidelines Ahead of Graduation Ceremonies

Law Development Center (LDC) was preparing for its highly anticipated decentralized graduation ceremonies, marking a significant departure from their traditional centralized approach. The inaugural ceremony was scheduled to take place at the Mbarara Campus on June 16, 2023. Excitement filled the air as the institution embarked on this new chapter in its history.

To ensure a smooth and organized event, LDC issued a special notice to all the graduands. The notice contained crucial information that the attendees needed to be aware of in order to participate in the ceremonies seamlessly. One of the key requirements was that each invitation card must clearly indicate the respective campus of the graduand. This rule was put in place to ensure that only the designated campus’s graduands would be allowed access. It was a necessary measure to maintain order and prevent overcrowding at any one campus.

The notice also emphasized that each graduand was permitted to bring two parents or guardians to the ceremony. However, it was important to note that the invitation card had to be presented at the campus gate for verification before entry. LDC took these precautions to ensure the limited seating capacity could be effectively managed and to prioritize the safety of all attendees.

In light of the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic, LDC put health and safety at the forefront of the ceremonies. Graduands were reminded to wear masks throughout the event and strictly adhere to the Covid-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in place. This was a responsible and necessary precaution to protect everyone in attendance and to demonstrate the institution’s commitment to public health.

For the first time in LDC’s history, each campus would host its own graduation ceremony. Following the Mbarara Campus ceremony on June 16, the celebrations would continue at the Kampala Campus on June 23, 2023, and finally conclude at the Lira Campus on June 30, 2023. This decentralized approach aimed to make the graduation experience more inclusive and accessible to all students across the different campuses, while also reducing logistical challenges associated with a centralized event.

As the graduands eagerly awaited their special day, the notice served as a reminder of the significance of the upcoming ceremonies and the need to comply with the guidelines and instructions provided. It was a momentous occasion for both the students and the institution, symbolizing the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and commitment to legal education.

With the notice distributed and the stage set, Law Development Center was prepared to embark on a new era of graduation ceremonies that celebrated the achievements of its students while upholding the values of order, safety, and inclusivity.
