The Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU), Uganda’s apex body for the private sector, is collaborating with the MasterCard Foundation (MCF) to co-implement the Young Africa Works in Uganda – Enhancing Lead Firm Structure for Youth Employment Project. The Intervention’s ultimate goal is to create dignified and fulfilling work for young women and men and contribute to the effort to lifting Ugandans out of poverty.

 

Job Summary:  The Membership Department is responsible and accountable for growing PSFU membership (numbers and services), countrywide outreach as well as satisfying members’ needs. To this end, the Directorate initiates and implements a variety of activities; mainly recruitment drives, outreaches, capacity building, business development, project management, business and networking, fundraising, Marketing and Events Management all aimed at delivering value for members. In order for the Department to fulfil its growing obligations; it requires the services of a Manager Outreach Services to support the DMS in, initiating and delivering the department’s outputs particularly rural outreach within budget and timelines.

 

The Manager Outreach Services reports DMS. The job is responsible for contributing to the PSFU outreach strategy encompassing upcountry recruitment and aftercare services.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Contributing the to the Development and implementation of department’s strategy

Working with the DMS, undertake the following;

  • Scout, identify and recommend establishment of upcountry physical locations (Branch & Outposts etc)
  • Propose and implement events (learning, networking, engagement) that benefit members particularly at branch/outpost level.
  • Mobilize branches to participate in B2B activities initiated by HQs
  • Mobilize branches to participate in B2C activities initiated by HQs
  • Support and handhold established branches to develop strategic & business plans to guide & underpin their operations
  • Ensure branches conduct subscription drives and are up to date on a year-to-year basis
  • Supporting branch members in accessing services/grants offered by inhouse donor funded projects.

In undertaking the role, MO will be required to supervise Branch Managers to

  • Conduct regular member visits
  • Keenly monitor progress of planned branch activities.
  • Participation in branch member General Meetings
  • Support the PSFU Annual Member needs assessment and any other assessment that involves branch members.
  • Ensure branch members participate in key PSFU events that involves PSFU members like the AGM, etc

Prepare monthly, Quarterly and Annual progress reports as will be required.

  • Identifying advocacy issues from the branches and notify the DMS.
  • Any other duties as will be assigned by the DMS from time to time.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree (honours) in Business, Agriculture or Rural focused studies and related disciplines.
  • Experience of at least Five (5) years with a Private Sector Business Member Organization or any other reputable organization.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Resource Mobilization and Management, good performance management and monitoring skills
  • Good Planning and Decision-making skills
  • A team player with excellent leadership, presentation and networking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills in the English language.
  • Flexibility and ability to manage many tasks simultaneously with minimum supervision
  • Computer literate
