MOVIE OF THE MONTH: Enjoy the review of Taken 3

Taken 3 starring Liam Neeson made a huge global amount as it made $161.8 million to-date. The movie that was released on 9th January 2015 landed the Second Biggest Opening Weekend for a Fox film of all-time, surpassing The Wolverine.

Taken 3 is currently number one in the Philippines where it is showing in more than 200 screens. During its first five days of screening, Taken 3 made P107 million and in the US, the movie has been the highest grossing film of the franchise.

Like in the past movies, Taken 3 allows Liam Neeson’s character, Bryan Mills, to use his famous “particular set of skills” to track someone down. He is attempting to find the real killers of his ex-wife while protecting his daughter.

The original Taken features his daughter, Kim, being kidnapped by the Albanian mob and sold into sex slavery while on a trip to Europe with her friend. What her father thought was a chaperoned trip, turns out to be a solo trip to follow a band around Europe.

In Taken 2, the tables were turned when Bryan and his ex-wife Lenore were taken by the mob as revenge from the first movie. Kim had to follow the instincts of her father to save her parents.

Though the Taken series is wildly popular, this is supposed to be the final movie. It has even been officially subtitled It Ends Here.

MST Entertainment on behalf of Variety reported that Twentieth Century Fox has delivered the first big hit of 2015.

“Among notable markets, Taken 3 pulled in $5.4 million from the United Kingdom, opened with $2.5 million in the Philippines, kicked off with $2.2 million in Russia and debuted to $1.2 million in Spain,” a report reads.

Ex-covert operative Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson) and his ex-wife, Lenore (Famke Janssen), are enjoying reconciliation when Lenore is brutally murdered. Bryan is framed for the crime and flees, with the CIA, FBI and police all in hot pursuit.

For the last time, he channels his rage and particular set of skills into hunting down Lenore’s real killers, taking his revenge and protecting the one important thing left in his life; his daughter, Kim (Maggie Grace).
