Job Summary:  PATH seeks to recruit a Program Officer who will provide technical expertise to improve elements of immunization service delivery in Uganda.  S/he will manage specific activities in Uganda and support the Senior Program officer with strengthening PATH Uganda’s vaccine and immunization capabilities to help the country achieve greater positive impact on immunization coverage through performance monitoring, integration of innovative approaches to improve accessibility and uptake of immunization services. The program officer will closely work with MOH/UNEPI and key stakeholders supporting the EPI program.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with national stakeholders including representing PATH on EPI technical committees to strengthen the immunization service delivery and ensure coordination of resources and efforts to support the immunization program.
  • Support preparation for and implementation of program activities, including close coordination with UNEPI and partners, maintaining timelines and documentation of program activities.
  • Support EPI service delivery activities coordination and partner collaboration to ensure timely communication, information sharing, and project implementation for both the PATH project led and joint the EPI activities.
  • Support national level joint work planning, trainings, district supportive supervisions and onsite mentorship as appropriate to improve immunization service delivery.
  • Obtain necessary permissions/approvals to conduct the proposed/future vaccines/immunization related research in Uganda.
  • Actively collaborate closely with the MoH and UNEPI including identification of appropriate study sites, study logistics, and data sharing.
  • Draft and review study protocols, pilot test protocols, and ensure appropriateness of protocols for ease of study implementation and efficiency in gathering required data.
  • Coordinate and support work planning, budgeting, and reporting

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant should preferably hold a master’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, social sciences or any other health related field.
  • At least five years of experience working with immunization programs at national and sub national levels.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Uganda public health context, including MoH structure, policies, and procedures, particularly immunization
  • Ability to manage and coordinate diverse tasks and facilitate relationships among multiple parties
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner
  • Expertise preparing thorough, well-written, and concise documents
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Possess the ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, work independently, and maintain a high level of accountability.
  • Must have legal Authorization to work in Uganda.
