After years of hard work and dedication, you’ve finally graduated from university. Congratulations! But now comes the hard part: finding a job. In today’s competitive job market, it can be tough to stand out from the crowd and land your dream job. So, what can you do to increase your chances of employment after university? As the job market continues to become more competitive, recent graduates are looking for ways to increase their chances of finding employment after university. There’s a myth that if you have a university degree, you have a job .According to a recent survey, nearly 60% of graduates are unemployed or working in a job that doesn’t require a bachelor’s degree.

To address this issue,  the Rector of the Islamic University in Uganda Prof. Ismail Gyagenda in an interview addressed about some of the steps that IUIU has taken to increase possibilities for employment after university and in is interview;

 The Islamic University in Uganda is taking steps to help students build their skills, gain work experience, and connect with potential employers. Many universities are offering career development programs that provide students with workshops, networking opportunities, and on-one coaching.

We are also partnering with employers to provide students with internships and co-op positions. These opportunities not only provide students with valuable work experience, but they also help them build their network and make connections in their field.

In addition, universities are working to incorporate more hands-on learning opportunities into their programs. This includes projects and assignments that allow students to apply their skills to real-world problems and challenges.

Students are also taking steps to increase their chances of finding employment. Many are building their network by attending career fairs, joining professional organizations, and connecting with alumni from their university. Students are also using social media platforms such as LinkedIn to connect with professionals in their field.

Finally, students are being encouraged to tailor their job search to their specific interests and skills. This includes researching companies and industries that interest them and applying to positions that align with their skills and experience.

By taking these steps, recent graduates are increasing their chances of finding employment after university. While the job market may be competitive, students are finding ways to stand out from other candidates and build their skills and experience. With the right mindset and approach, recent graduates can achieve their career goals and find success in their chosen field.

Employers are often looking for candidates with relevant work experience. Consider taking on internships or co-op positions during your time at university. This will not only provide you with valuable experience, but it can also help you build your network and make connections in your field.

3. Tailor your job search

Tailoring your job search to your specific interests and skills can help you stand out from other candidates. Research companies and industries that interest you and apply to positions that align with your skills and experience.

4. Build your skills

Building your skills can help you become a more competitive candidate. Consider taking courses or attending workshops to develop your skills in areas such as communication, leadership, and problem-solving.

5. be persistent

6. be open to new opportunities
