Job Title:    Donor Liaison Officer

Duty Station: Uganda

Salary Range (Net):  UGX 975,000 – 2,025,000 per month (depending on the experience and skill of a candidate)

About US:

Association for Aid and Relief (AAR Japan) was founded in 1979 by Yukika SOHMA, our first chairperson, with a mission to help refugees from Indochina, and as a civil organization without any political, religious, or ideological affiliations. It has since then grown into an international organization approved and registered by the United Nations. AAR Japan has five main pillars of activities; 1) emergency assistance, 2) assistance to persons with disabilities, 3) landmine and unexploded ordnance (UXO) action, 4) action against infectious diseases and 5) public awareness raising about global issues in Japan. Since the beginning, AAR Japan has operated in over 60 countries. Currently we are active in 15 countries and areas, including 4 African countries namely Kenya, Zambia, Sudan and Uganda.

Job Summary: The Donor Liaison Officer will build, coordinate and maintain strong working relationships with the donors. S/he will be responsible for donor liaison and reporting particularly for the UNHCR funded education projects.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Build, coordinate and maintain strong working relationships with the donor (UNHCR)
  • Serve as the focal person to the donor closely coordinating with different sections of AAR office
  • Prepare and submit donor reports in cooperation with project staff members
  • Carry out field visits to monitor the implementation of activities, collect relevant information and report to the donors
  • Work closely with other stakeholders including governmental authorities, NGOs, stakeholders and other actors in education sector when necessary
  • Seek new funding opportunities and support fundraising
  • Perform other relevant duty as instructed by Programme Coordinators

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The applicant should preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher in relevant field
  • Five years of relevant experience
  • Previous experience in donor liaison works preferably with UN agencies
  • Experience in working with aid organizations, in emergency situation and in multi-cultural context
  • Experience in working in the field of education would be an asset
  • Ugandan citizen, residing in Uganda and able to station in Yumbe
  • Strong motivation to be part of an aid organization
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and writing
  • Solid reporting skills
  • Strong coordination skills with various actors including high-level officials
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with other sections and colleagues within the organization
  • Ability to adapt to new environments
  • Excellent at working as a part of the team
  • PC literacy including word processing (MS Word) and spreadsheets (MS Excel)
  • Culturally sensitive and high level of diplomacy and tact
  • Punctuality
