Job Title: Regional Commodity Distribution Coordinator

ACDI/VOCA is carrying out the USAID-funded PL 480 Title II Development Food Assistance Program entitled “Resiliency through Wealth, Agriculture, and Nutrition in Karamoja (RWANU)”. The RWANU Program is focusing on reducing food insecurity among vulnerable rural populations in selected sub-counties of Amudat, Moroto, Napak and Nakapiripirit. The Program’s strategic objectives are (1) improved availability and access to food and (2) reduced malnutrition in pregnant and lactating mothers and children under five. The RWANU Program takes a preventive approach to reducing malnutrition, focusing on the first 1,000 days of life when conditional food rations will have the highest impact. RWANU will promote diversified livelihoods strategies including linkages to market opportunities to ensure long-term food security and resilience to food insecurity shocks.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Guide the transfer and movement of food commodities from the storage sites to the final distribution points located in the two program districts.
  • Work closely with the warehouse’ and distribution teams to ensure timely distribution of commodities to the eligible program beneficiaries.
  • Actively engage with the program’s Health and Nutrition Director and the Nutritionist on a monthly basis to ensure that beneficiaries are registered, tracked and provided with a ration as per the program design.
  • Coach and train staff on the management of program commodity distribution activities.
  • Encouraging information sharing, program improvement and strategic planning with SO team leaders with particular emphasis on program integration.
  • Develop commodity distribution and monitoring systems, monitor the storage, handling, transportation, and distribution of commodities to the final beneficiaries.
  • Represent the program at different stakeholders’ regional meetings as requested.
  • Compile and produce timely, complete and accurate reports needed for control and decision making.
  • Liaising and coordinating information with other stakeholders e.g. NGO’s and local leaders in he program operational districts.
  • Ensuring that all program assets are managed well and made proper use of
  • Offer additional administrative oversight to ensure that program assets at the office are used in the most effective manner
  • Ensure all distribution staffs comply with ACDI/VOCA’s “Corporate Code of Conduct.”
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned to you from time to time by the Commodity Operations Manager.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The applicant should have a degree in the relevant field
  • A minimum of five years working experience in international development in NGOs
  • The individual should be able to fluently speak Akarimojong
  • Computer literacy with a good command of Microsoft office packages including but not limited to Ms Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Possess the ability to manage and supervise staff
  • Demonstrable ability to delegate and work with a team
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and reporting skills
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
