The Ugandan government has agreed to pay public lecturers 29 billion Uganda shillings of the 39 billion debt they demand.
On sunday August 5, 2018, lecturers held a meeting in which they petitioned the government to produce an updated salary structure to follow starting this academic year.
In response, the government sent a letter that has been received by Makerere University Academic Staff Association (MUASA) commiting itself to settle a debt of only 29 billion shillings.
