Manchester United WIN The Carabao Cup

Manchester United beat Newcastle at Wembley as Erik ten Hag’s team ended their six-year trophy shortage by beating the Magpies 2-0 on Sunday.

Casemiro scored the opener for Manchester United at Wembley and they doubled their lead before the break via a Sven Botman own goal.

Just six minutes after the first goal, Marcus Rashford linked up skillfully with Wout Weghorst to increase the lead. Rashford then made a run into the box and took a shot that bounced off Botman and went past Loris Karius, the Newcastle goalkeeper.

They could even have added a late third in stoppage time as a counter saw Bruno Fernandes race through, but he was denied by Karius from close range.

After winning the Europa League in 2017 under Jose Mourinho, the team won their first silverware. This current win marks a potential quadruple, as the team is still in contention for the FA Cup, Europa League, and has a slight chance of winning the Premier League.

For Newcastle, their 54-year wait for a trophy stretching back to 1969 68 years for a domestic trophy – goes on.

Yet again this evening, they had the right spirit. It’s a very good spirit, they act as a team and fight, give everything.

We are still in a start to restore Man Utd to where they belong, which is winning trophies and this is the first one.
