ASA Microfinance (U) Ltd is seeking for professional, confident, self-motivated, and committed team players to reinforce its capacity by filling the following vacant position:

 

Job Title       : Risk Officer (1 position)

Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda

 

Job Summary:  The Risk Officer’s position is responsible for supporting the management of risks faced by the organization on a day to day basis through identification, assessment, mitigation, reporting and continuous monitoring.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify key risks inherent in the microfinance business as well as emerging financial industry risks and suggest mitigation measures.
  • Prepare monthly risk information reports and risk management coordination committee reports.
  • Prepare quarterly risk reports; i.e. risk appetite, key risk heat map, risk matrix, I.T key risks, climate related risk assessments and natural disaster reports.
  • Prepare and present risk assessment reports to the board on quarterly basis.
  • Conduct risk awareness training within the organisation.
  • Any other duty that may be assigned by management.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in a Business-related field.
  • At least two years of experience in Credit/Risk management or Audit in a financial institution. Certification in Risk Management, or Audit is an added advantage.
  • Investigation skills.
  • Basic knowledge in the use of Microsoft office tools.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Personal organization and planning skills.
  • Analytical skills.
