Action Against Hunger-USA, an independent NGO, currently manages operations in 8 countries: Kenya, South Sudan, Cambodia, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, Haiti and Somalia. Action Against Hunger-USA has over $75 million in programs, and approximately 2000 staff based in in the various country offices, Head Quarter in New York City and Operational Centre in Nairobi. Additional growth is anticipated.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Technical Support

  • Monitored CBSFP and MCHN food stores and ensure that the food commodities are stacked in an organized manner. In addition, ensured good storage conditions for all food items including NFIs such as pallets are present in the food stores
  • In liaison with nutrition officers, submit timely food requests to the FC for verification and ensures that food is receive and deliver at the different distribution sites
  • Updates stock cards regularly and ensured that the food tracking registers as well as waybills are well documented/filled and archived according to Action Against
  • Assist to investigate losses where necessary and documented findings and submitted reports on the losses to the FC or health facility in charges where necessary.
  • Ensure that beneficiary listings are as accurate as possible and ensure that beneficiaries are aware of their rations
  • Base on distribution plan, reported any delays that would cause inconvenience to the management and beneficiaries
  • Identifies and propose training needs of store keepers, food distribution assistants and other staffs involved in food utilization
  • Prepare weekly summary reports of daily food transaction/consumption indicating the number of beneficiaries (children, pregnant & lactating mothers and other clients) registered and provided with therapeutic supplies
  • Prepare and submit monthly corporate partner distribution/food utilization (CPDR) reports
  • Report differences observe between waybills, physically count figures of commodities received. In addition, documented the type, quantity, condition of commodities receive from warehouse
  • Actively engage in post distribution monitoring (PDM) assessments
  • Contribute to reporting on project progress, success stories and lessons learned during project implementation.

Capacity Building.

  • Supervise store keepers and food distribution assistants involved in MCHN & CBSFP food distribution at health facility and community level
  • Ensure compliance to WFP store standards

Assessment and reporting

  • Prepare weekly summary reports of daily food transaction/consumption indicating the number of Beneficiaries (children, pregnant & lactating mothers and other clients) registered and provided with therapeutic supplies
  • Prepare and submit monthly corporate partner distribution/food utilization (CPDR) reports
  • Report differences observed between waybills, physically count figures of commodities received. In addition, document the type, quantity, condition of commodities received from warehouse
  • Actively engage in post distribution monitoring (PDM) assessments
  • Contribute to reporting on project progress, success stories and lessons learned during project

Other duties as assigned (5%)

  • Participate in internal and external meetings according to the FC guidance.
  • Actively participate in events organized in the refugee and host community setting
  • Coordinate with other sections of Action Against Hunger and all other stakeholders in the response

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in business administration, stores management and related field.
  • Previous experience working with NGO or UN agencies
  • Proven knowledge and experience of stores management core competencies
  • Competence in all components of Logistics (fleet management, transport, warehousing, etc.)
  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of word processor, spreadsheet
  • Demonstrated experience and/or personal commitment to promoting gender equality within the work
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently
  • Extremely flexible with the ability to cope with stressful situations
  • Excellent reporting skills with good oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of the local language
  • Diplomatic and culturally sensitive

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • At least four years of project management and general banking experience
  • Significant track record in strategic and operational management and complex business transformation delivery
  • Experience in IT and business project management
  • Exposure to leadership or management of teams’ experience
