Makerere University to get Campus FM Radio frequency & Television

Makerere University students especially those practicing Journalism and Communication were in a joyous mood as Uganda Communication Commission (UCC) Executive Director, Godfrey Mutabazi promised to have the re-opening of Campus FM and launching of a Makerere Television.
Campus FM, was closed way back in 2011 over what UCC claimed was failure by Makerere University to clear its licensing dues tuning to over 15million. Its frequency was later occupied by Salt FM.
Makerere’s desire to pay the outstanding debts and have it on air came at a time when UCC announced that there where no more frequencies for radio stations in Kampala.
The station acted as a platform for Journalism and Communication students to showcase their broadcast skills.
Speaking during the Annual Media Convention that was organized by Makerere University Department of Journalism and Communication, Mutabazi noted that with digital migration, Makerere shall be able to get a frequency for Campus FM.
“When digital migration happens, we shall be able to get a frequency for Campus FM, Makerere TV with or without money,”
“Like our counterparts in Kenya, we shall meet the deadline and no media house should lose signal as a result of digitalization,” stressed Mutabazi.
The Acting Head of Department, Dr. William Tayeebwa invited partnerships from various stakeholders in the development of Campus FM and Makerere TV (MUTV).
Professor Barnabas Nawangwe the Deputy Vice Chancellor Finance and administration promised the department space for housing the broadcast stations.
“I personally pledge more support to the department in plans to revive Campus FM and launch of the television,” said Nawangwe.

Chelsea could have killed off the game though Ramires spurned close range opportunity.
Arsene Wenger’s side had a lot of the ball creating good moves but they found it difficult to break down the Chelsea defence patrolled by their skipper John Terry.
This result meant manager Arsene Wenger is still winless against Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho in their 13th meeting according to BBC Sport. Mike Oliver was the referee of the game though there still remain some questionable decisions which he made in the game.
It was affair result for both Teams as the Premier League is in the closing stages of the season.
Arsenal remained third on the League table, below Manchester City on goal difference and two points above Manchester United but with a game in hand on both.
Meanwhile Everton beat Manchester United 3-0 to dent their visitors’ hopes of direct entry into the Champions League in the early kickoff.
This was Louis van Gaal’s second consecutive league defeat after the previous weekend he lost 1-0 to Chelsea.
Everton got its goals from James McCarthy, John Stones and Kevin Mirallas as they rose into 10th place.
