World Cup Live Updates: Champions Argentina Flies Home Via a Stop in Rome

World Cup-winning Argentina players including Lionel Messi have rewritten the lyrics to their now-famous ‘Muchachos’ antthem as they fly back from Qatar with the World Cup trophy

Argentinia are set to receive an emotional homecoming after their World Cup triumph with scenes in Buenos Aires yesterday encapsulating the passion for football in the South American nation.

Argentina were set to take off from Doha at around 2pm on Monday to return to their capital city and as previous photos have shown, it looks like they’re already en route.

There is a stop-off in Madrid on the way, with the team expected to land back home between 10pm and midnight (GMT).

An official celebration with fans is planned on Tuesday – although a time and place is not confirmed yet. 

They will no doubt be greeted by euphoric supporters back home

Clips continue to emerge of the euphoric scenes in Argentina after yesterday’s World Cup triumph.
