Job Title:  Integration Specialist

About US:

The National Information Technology Authority-Uganda (NITA-U) is an autonomous statutory body established under the NITA-U Act 2009, The Authority is under the general supervision of the Ministry of Information Communications Technology and National Guidance (MOICT&NG). The National Information Technology Authority, Uganda was established with a mandate to coordinate, promote and monitor the development of IT in the context of social and economic development of Uganda.

Job Summary: The Integration Specialist will ensure high-quality systems integration management procedures and services in support of the successful achievement of UGHUB (Government Integration Platform) specific outputs.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Research, evaluate, and recommend systems/equipment/technologies based on client needs for the integration of systems.
  • Develop technical designs, as well as other systems integration-related documents including testing plans and procedures based upon system recommendations.
  • Develop and execute the integration of new interfaces and/or Applications into existing systems.
  • Develop and manage API of legacy or architectures in government systems.
  • Ensure that integration projects meet business requirements and goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify and resolve systems issues.
  • Develop standards and processes to support and facilitate integration projects and initiatives.
  • Utilize interface development tools to create data sharing, and analyze user requirements for reports, forms, queries, and data extraction.
  • Utilize practices and tools for data extraction, queries, and data manipulation in accordance with business processes.
  • Document data and systems integration requirements for all MDAs intending to share data

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or similar field from a recognized university;
  • Certification in Jenkins and WSO2 API Manager
  • Certification in Flutter application development is an added advantage.
  • At least three years of working experience in Applications Integration and/or Systems Administration or Software development for a large organization.
  • Experience in the development and management of integrations of systems, both legacy and modern
  • Experience with technical requirements analysis, process modeling and/or methodology development, and data mapping.
  • Direct hands-on experience with automated integration tools for large-scale systems integration projects.
  • Demonstrated project management and communication experience will be required.
  • Technical Knowledge in programming languages like Java, C++, Python, PHP and C#.
  • Technical Knowledge in SOA, API development, consumption, and Database manipulation.
  • Expert knowledge in working with WSO2 open source technology/platform is mandatory
  • Aggressive problem-diagnosis and creative problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills to juggle multiple tasks within the constraints of timelines and budgets
  • Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment, learn rapidly, and master diverse software technologies and techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written)
  • Ability to effectively manage user expectations
