Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) Habib Medical School Introduces New Health Science Programmes

IUIU Habbib Medical school has introduced four new Nursing courses at Direct and extension Diploma levels.

The four newly programs include;

  • Diploma in Nursing (Direct),
  • Diploma in nursing (extension),
  • Diploma in Midwifery (Direct),
  • Diploma in Midwifery (Extension).

The above programs where approved and accredited by the Uganda National Council for Higher Education during the recent inspection by the East African Community team of health Experts.

This information was confirmed by the IUIU academic registrar Dr. Halima Wakabi Akbar .

“This new development has opened more opportunity for the many girls who had missed out a chance to enroll for health science programmes especially in a distinctive environment that has good facilities and adequate human resource”. Said Dr. Madina Nabukeera, Campus Director

She added that  “our Nursing programmes are unique in a way that they are community based. our students shall be dealing with the local community especially in primary health care so that they can be key in solving the challenging common health issues”.

Habbib Medical School is the newest medical school in the country, having been part of IUIU since 2014. The school provides medical education at diploma and undergraduate levels

The school is located at the Kampala campus of Islamic University in Uganda, on Kibuli Hillvand adjacent to Kibuli Hospital.
