Job Title: Electronics Engineer

Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is a corporate body responsible for the regulation of Civil Aviation in Uganda. It manages Entebbe International Airport and 13 other aerodromes upcountry. CAA carries out its work in conformity with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPS). The Authority now plans to recruit suitably qualified Ugandans of impeccable integrity and commitment to fill the following positions in its establishment.

Job Summary: The Civil Aviation Authority Electronics Engineer will ensure that all electronic security screening, surveillance and related Communication at the airport and other aerodromes upcountry are in a good serviceable state.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understands the focus and direction of CAA and integrate the Division fully.
  • Understand and share CAA Vision, Mission & Values with Management Team and ensure understanding by subordinates and external stakeholders.
  • Develops the work processes in support of the vision and enrolls the business towards the CAA’s vision
  • Develops the Aerodrome Maintenance (AM) strategic milestones.
  • Develop and implement both strategic and operational plans for the AM
  • Actively participates in the business planning, budgeting and review process.
  • Understand the Shareholders financial interests in CAA and ensure they are supported.
  • Understands the financial requirement of the AM and seek for the approval of the financial, material and human resources required to manage an efficient department.
  • Monitors actual costs against expenditure on an ongoing basis and report accordingly.
  • Manages costs so that the planned costs are not exceeded.
  • Manages the assets assigned to the department in a good state of maintenance and repair
  • Achieves the planned revenue objectives.
  • Achieve the planned surplus objectives from both aeronautical and non aeronautical sources.
  • Accounts for the assets allocated to AM
  • Manages the installation and commissioning of all electronic- systems and equipment at EIA and other aerodromes upcountry.
  • Ensures that installation and commissioning (including as built drawings) are well preserved as reference records for future maintenance.
  • Puts in place a suitable comprehensive maintenance system that ensures maximum availability of electronic systems and equipment while minimizing cost.
  • Ensures a comprehensive response and repair time programme that maximizes equipment and system availability.
  • Maintains Aerodrome electronic equipment and systems in a good state of repair and maintenance.
  • Maintains an adequate stock of spares to carry out required maintenance without creating a major liability financially.
  • Puts in place a training program including OJT to ensure that the staff he/she supervises has the necessary skills.
  • Ensures that the test equipment and tools necessary for proper maintenance of the system are made available.
  • Is sensitive to airport security issues and understands the role and contribution of equipment under AM’s control.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate for the aforementioned opportunity should hold a good Bsc. Engineering degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering or Computer engineering.
  • Three or more years’ relevant working experience with similar responsibilities
  • Demonstrable computer programming knowledge skills in languages such as C++, Java
  • Strong relevant job knowledge.
