NTV Emerges as Uganda’s Most Watched Channel According to Recent Survey

NTV (Nation Television) ) is still leading the pack due to its quality news and programs. according to a recent survey on TV viewership and programming following Covid-19.

According to the survey on TV viewership, NTV’s On the Spot has the highest viewership share of 11.1%, with NBS‘s Frontline following at 5.5%. Additionally, Login Extra has the highest viewership share at 10.9%, with NBS following closely behind at 9.7%.

Ms Elizabeth Namaganda, the head of marketing at NMG-Uganda, has revealed that a survey conducted by Ipsos-Nams between June and December of last year showed that NTV’s weekly Luganda news segment, NTV-Akawungeezi, had the highest viewership share of 37.7% compared to NBS’s 3.5%. Furthermore, NTV Ku Sawa Emu, NTV’s weekend Luganda news segment, had the highest viewership share of 38.4% compared to NBS’s 9.4%. Ipsos is a well-known research organization that specializes in providing reliable information and a true understanding of society, markets, and people.

According to the data provided, On the Spot (11.1percent), Login Extra ( 10.9 per cent), Property Show (8.6 per cent), T-Nation (10.7 per cent), Sport Today (4.7percent) and Style Project ( 33.9 ) have the highest viewership shares, ranging from 4.7% to 33.9%. Meanwhile, NBS’s Frontline(5.5 per cent) and shares of other programs trail behind with lower viewership shares.

“These are the most recent ratings. Both surveys were conducted using caller-aided telephone interviews unlike previously when they would conduct physical interviews. We hadn’t conducted research since 2019,” Ms Namaganda said on Tuesday.

“But we had two sets before June and December 2022 and Akawungeezi still commands the highest viewership,” she said.

According to the survey, Weekend Edition has the highest viewership share of 17.

4%, followed by NBS with a share of 13.8%. NTV’s At One has the highest viewership share of 8.8%, with UBC following at 6.5%. Furthermore, NTV’s Mwasuze Mutya has the highest viewership share of 14.

6%, with Bukedde TV 1 following closely behind with a share of 12.0%. Finally, Xpozed has the highest viewership share of 14.9%, with NBS having a lower share of 5.4%.
