The Vice Chancellor of UTAMU, Prof. Venansius Baryamureeba has reiterated his commitment towards improving higher education in Uganda through enhancing research particularly in the field of technology and management.
Addressing delegates during the first Annual International Conference on Technology and Management in Kampala on 4th August 2014, Baryamureeba said UTAMU is set to establish the next generation of academicians that will be unique in the region.
“As an upcoming research and innovation led University, we are currently involved in several research and innovation projects with the best institutions across the globe. Our choice to pioneer an annual conference on Technology & Management is one of the ways the university is promoting research in our areas of specialty,” he disclosed.
Baryamureeba said the idea of a conference was birthed after realizing the need for a forum for international researchers and practitioners to present and discuss ways of improving service delivery through ICT and the need to revitalize management.
He told participants that UTAMU vouches for strategic collaborations that are vital in building formidable human capital in the region.
“For the last two years, we have had partnerships with several academic institutions as well as public and private institutions to engage in research and innovations,” Baryamureeba revealed. Baryamureeba hailed distinguished scholars and delegates for believing in UTAMU and gracing its pioneer conference on Technology and Management.
He also disclosed that the University is in the final stages of hosting the International Journal of Computing, Technology and Management (IJCTM) which will provide an opportunity to scholars and researchers across the globe to publish articles and case studies.
The conference took place at the International Resource Centre (IREC) in Bugolobi and was presided over by the Vice President of the Republic of Uganda, H.E Edward Kiwanuka SSekandi. He opened the 1st ICTM14 conference and launched a series of subsequent conferences.
