JOB DETAILS:
Are you passionate about the value of our country’s history and the need to preserve and promote our built and natural heritage? if so, the Cross-Cultural Foundation of Uganda (CCFU) has an exciting opening for an experienced individual to manage its expanding initiatives to conserve and promote Uganda’s heritage.
Background
CCFU is a Uganda-registered non-governmental organisation established in 2005 to “Promote the recognition of culture as vital for human development that responds to our national identity and diversity”. One of the pillars of CCFU’s work is premised on the need to preserve and promote Uganda’s heritage, both tangible and intangible, as an important aspect of national identity. To date, CCFU has been active in promoting heritage education and in supporting community museums in various parts of Uganda. CCFU has also documented our built heritage in Jinia, Fort Portal, Entebbe and Kampala. Historical buildings have been recognised through plaques, information boards or leaflets. A national railways museum is also in the offing. The position
CCFU is now looking for a motivated and experienced person to join its team with a view to leading-its “National Heritage Trust Project”, which may in time develop into a fully-fledged independent, membership organisation and to support the implementation of CCFU’s heritage promotion and preservation activities.
The person
We are seeking the services of a person with a background in heritage/social studies/history
(Master’s level) and with at least 5 years’ relevant professional experience..
