Cracked heals/soles are a common problem that affects both men and women worldwide.

It can affect both heels or just only one heel.This affliction is common among the youths and the elderly.

It could take several days or even weeks for cracks on the heels to develop. If the early signs of cracks on the heels are recognised, they can be prevented and controlled to a certain extent.

CAUSES

  • Poor hygiene
  • Medical conditions
  • Over standing /walking for long hours
  • Over exposing of the heel
  • Use of  tight footwear
  • Feet soaked in hot water for long time`
  • Too much scrubbing of the feet
  • Lack of moisturizer

PREVENTION

  • Eat a lot of vitamins E,iron,calcium,zinc and omega 3 fatty acids
  • Avoid wearing tight shoes
  • Keep your feet clean
  • Moisturize your feet before going to bed
