Job Title: Administrative /Project Management Assistant
 
The National Agricultural Research Organisation (NARO) is established by the National Agricultural Research Act 2005 as a body corporate responsible for the coordination and oversight of all aspects of agricultural research in Uganda.
The National Banana Research Programme (NBRP) based at the National Agricultural Research Laboratories, NARL-Kawanda undertakes molecular biology and biotechnology research activities to develop standard procedures and technologies for enhancing Banana production in Uganda.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Drafts routine correspondence to respond to enquiries in respect to relevant administrative, financial, and other matters.
  • Responsible for the monitoring and evaluation progress of various assignments and regularly updating the supervisor on organizational deadlines and problems
  • Organizing and management of activities associated to information and data
  • Communicating to a variety of key stakeholders in biotechnology, biosafety, food safety, product development and commercialization
  • Managing the proper maintenance, storage, retrieval of files and documents in order to ensure that they are accessible and secure.
  • Organizing meetings, trainings and conferences and accurately recording proceedings of various deliberating
  • Preparing both local and international itineraries, confirming travel, flight and hotel reservations
  • Scheduling appointments and screening reports for meetings, synchronizing and updating the supervisors ‘s appointments
  • Offer technical support, where required for meeting programme activity timelines and milestones that are supportive to the overall project/programme goals
  • Performing any other duties assigned to you by the designated supervisor
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor’s of Business Administration and/or Accounting degree from recognized University
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ relevant experience in administrative services and accounting
  • Good working knowledge in ICT and data management
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with an attention to detail, along with an ability to analyze and evaluate different types of information
Communication: Speaks and writes clearly and effectively; listens to others, correctly interprets messages from others and responds appropriately; asks questions to clarify, and exhibits interest
Professionalism: demonstrates professional competence; is conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments, observing deadlines and achieving results Teamwork: Works collaboratively with colleagues to achieve programme goals; is willing to learn from others; supports and acts in accordance with final group decision, even when such decisions may not entirely reflect own position.
